According to Fast Company, scientist have invented a soybean that tastes like pork. The company, Moolec, has genetically engineered soybeans to make pig protein. They call their process, “molecular farming,” and bill it as an affordable way to make real animal protein without slaughtering animals.
I know I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it 1,000 times more — there is no better setting to raise kids in than in agriculture. I think our cattle are raising our kids, and it’s a lifestyle I’m so blessed to be a part of.
If the strains of production agriculture get to you at times, look at it with a renewed perspective of the intangible benefits that this life provides our families. It’s a chance to raise the next generation in a way that very few get to experience, and what a joy and blessing it is, indeed!
When competition, capitalism, and the free market come together, the American cowboy can keep doing what he does best -- turning grass into the most nourishing food on planet earth, BEEF.
They are ruthless, relentless, persistent, and determined to strip producers off the land and eliminate meat, dairy, and eggs from the dinner table.
Their websites boast of ways they will change the farm bill, insert new restrictive policies, use fear-mongering to push through ballot initiatives, and share emotionally-charged rhetoric to line their pocketswith cash from well-meaning citizens.
Listen, I’m not afraid of competition in the meat case. Beef can compete against any protein. It’s a well-loved and enjoyed food that is highly sought after here and around the world.
However, these alternative protein companies that are claiming to be “meat” are anything but. I am worried about the safety, ethics, nutritional profile, and environmental impacts of these products, and I am angry that these investors can simply make broad-sweeping claims that disparage beef without sound science to back it up.
We have a real David and Goliath story happening in agriculture right now. Independent farmers and ranchers are being thrown to the wolves in favor of the corporate oligarchies that are running America.
This is just the tip of the iceberg in the actions being taken by animal rights extremists. It’s important to note we already have existing laws in the books that protect the animals we love and raise. And although you may be thinking, these bills don’t impact me, it’s critical we realize that these are precedent-setting actions that will trickle down and expand outward to touch every citizen who owns and manages any type of animal in this country.
"Reports like this only serve to further fuel the view that the government is working behind the scenes to undermine our dairy and livestock sectors,” said Tim Cullinan, president of the Irish Farmers’ Association, as reported by Fox News. "While there may well be some farmers who wish to exit the sector, we should all be focusing on providing a pathway for the next generation to get into farming."
Mayor Adams said, “It is easy to talk about emissions that are coming from vehicles and how it impacts our carbon footprint. It is easy to talk about the emissions that’s coming from buildings and how it impacts our environment. But we now have to talk about beef. And I don’t know if people are really ready for this conversation.”
During the 2023 Soil Health Conference, author Amanda Radke read from her book, "The Soil Quilt," and spoke about teaching children about soil health and land stewardship!
