Our Message To Congress On The Budget Reconciliation Act

“The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.” - Thomas Jefferson
Our coalition of legislators and landowners had a successful trip to Washington D.C. last week to advocate for your private property rights in South Dakota and across the nation.
As the Budget Reconciliation Act is considered in the U.S. Senate, our message is clear. We are asking Congress to:
1. Ensure the federal pre-emption allowing for federal eminent domain use on C02 pipelines remains out of the Big Beautiful Bill.
2. Completely remove the $10 million pay-to-play scheme for federal permitting of pipelines.
3. Prioritize fiscal responsibility and eliminate the wasteful spending through the 45Q tax credits.
As I headed back home to the ranch in South Dakota, I was grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside such great leaders and patriots, who on their own time and dime, committed to making the trip out to D.C. to fight for what is right.
Thank you to Speaker Jon Hansen, Speaker Pro Tem Karla Lems, Representative Liz May, and Senator Mark Lapka for your servant hearts and strong leadership for we the people.
One take-home from the trip that I found to be quite incredible was the nationwide impact that South Dakota’s bill, HB1052, has had on policy at a federal level.
The Congressmen and women we met with were very aware of the ban on eminent domain use for C02 pipelines that was established in South Dakota.
Countless South Dakotans worked tirelessly for four years to get that bill across the finish line, and it now serves as a catalyst for positive change in other states, as well as at the federal level.
In short — our reputation for proven and repeated success in safeguarding our private property rights in the state of South Dakota preceded us as we traveled to Washington, D.C., and I tip my hat to all of you who have been in this fight since the beginning, and as more attacks come our way, I welcome even more to the fold as our movement grows with each passing day.
You should be proud of what has been accomplished so far, and we’ll celebrate those victories together this Friday, June 13 in Aberdeen SD. I hope to see you there!
Our fight continues, and South Dakota will continue to lead the way in standing up for the people and doing all that we can to preserve our God-given, Constitutionally-protected private property rights.
God bless you all!
