Rural Route Radio: 11-Year Old Starts #WeStillExistMovement

This week on Rural Route Radio, Trent Loos and I hear from 11-year old, Sammie Starritt, from Merriam, Neb. Sammie has gone viral on social media with her movement, #WeStillExist, which aims to show consumers that real farmers and ranchers are still out in rural America tending to the land and livestock to produce our food.

After listening to this episode, I dare you not to feel inspired and hopeful about the future of agriculture. Great job, Sammie!

  • Amanda, I will see you at the Darke County Cattleman’s Ass’n Banquet in Greenville, Ohio, on Sat., Mar., 4, 2023. I have been involved in my Family Farm, (4th generation on the Finnarn Homestead), in raising Shorthorn cattle, and then we went to a Shorthorn-White Face cross. We also had some ‘Milking Shorthorn’ which are making a come back in our area. Anyway, I was recently appointed to head up the Ohio State FSA Office and I am speaking on many the same things that you are, concerning “animal rights” and farmers “protecting the Enviroment”. Can’t wait to hear you speak and talk to you at the banquet. For FSA I am studying up on the Climate Change Bill, passed at the end of 2022, and discovering it has many interesting provisions for Ag and livestock and “oodles” of money, for farm programs. See you soon, Ted Finnarn
